I don't get it. Why would their family get instantly poor when it was outright proven they did nothing wrong and that the traitor was the Archbishop who was working with the demon? This story just doesn't make sense at this part.

It's a good thing most nobles in this world are benevolent, or they could ENSLAVE their citizens LIKE RATS! They have magic to build without them. They control whether or not the people CAN GROW FOOD! Because without the nobles magic their farm food will drop significantly. They have contracts that like that that only they can use and the commoners don't have access too. And then there's the bomb/nuke magical destruction power the nobles can use. It make for a fascinating magical world, but also A HORRIBLE TOTALITARIAN OPPRESSIVE ABSOLUTE POWER SYSTEM! Where the commoners are so pathetic they had never have a thought against those in power.
